Stronsay Development Trust invite you to a paper making workshop with Lin Chau.

Multidisciplinary artist Lin Chau is bringing her paper making workshop to Stronsay with Orkney International Science Festival, exploring ways of producing paper using natural resources around us. All equipment will be provided, and materials as well, and you can feel free to bring along some dried flowers or seeds to add to your paper. A drop in session in Stronsay Development Trust's Community Greenhouse.

Come along to the Community Polytunnel to hear from Roger Neville-Smith of Stronsay Markets who will teach us all about organic, sustainable vegetable growing. Also at this event, see a display from the school children's 'Up the Garden Path' project, and also (hopefully!) the new Community Fridge

Join Leah, Community Waste Management Officer, on a beach clean at the Bu Sands. Rubbish bags, litter-pickers, and resuable gloves will be provided. Bring warm clothes and waterproofs. Parents are responsible for their children while on the beach.

Join Stronsay Waste Matters for a screening of the 'Scotland: Our Climate Journey' documentary. We will also have a film screening of 'The Lorax' at the same time to keep any children entertained. Feel free to bring along pillows/blankets/bean bags. Fruit squash, hot drinks, and popcorn will be available.

We're joined by staff from Stromness Museum who are bringing their pop-up exhibition and a metal letter stamping activity, where you'll get a metal jigsaw piece to take home.

Join Stronsay Waste Matters and Dr. Andrew Want for a shoreline investigation into the species living around our Stronsay coastline and learn how climate change is having an impact on these creatures.

Stronsay Development Trust invite you to a community event to take part in a Big Seaweed Search, a collaborative programme with the Marine Conservation Society and Natural History Museum. As part of Stronsay CitSci Fest and Orkney climate festival, help to collect data contributing to monitoring the species found in our seas. With Dr Jenni Kakkonen, Marine Environmental Scientist and Louise McQuaid from the North Isles Natural Wellbeing project.

Stronsay Development Trust invite you to an evening talk with Dr Jenni Kakkonen, Marine Environmental Scientist to introduce Citzen Science as part of Stronsay CitSci Fest throughout September.

She will be talking about current research programmes, how the data is used to monitor marine species and the environmental factors on them, as well as how it specifically is used in Orkney.
