Training, peer support, events, templates and information for communities across Highland, Orkney and Shetland Local Authority areas who are planning or carrying out community resilience activities and plans.

Join our monthly Community Resilience Connect events to hear from other communities carrying out this work, agencies, activities and initiatives to support you and your community resilience efforts.

Our work within communities and with partners across Highland and the Northern Isles has strongly identified the need for our places to be resilient and ready to adapt in the face of not just our world feeling the impacts of climate change but societal and economic challenges in our modern world.

Across Highland and the Northern Isles our communities already have people who look out for each other, places that bring us together and an abundance of local knowledge which identifies our own risks, challenges and strengths.

Community Resilience Connect is a space to share those strengths, learn from each other and the agencies, organisations and initiatives which can help our community resilience journey to take the steps to feel more prepared.

You’ll find here resources, support, news and events to create and strengthen resilience in your community whether your community has an established plan or are just starting the conversation. .

If you would like to know more about events, training and when new information is published please join our Community Resilience Connect Mailing List below and follow down the page for more information.

Where to start on your community resilience journey

““Scotland’s communities are made up of resilient individuals and households who are able as far as possible to take care of themselves and those around them, and who are connected with each other and with organisations and communities that can collaborate to harness their resources and expertise to plan for, respond to, and recover from emergencies, in a way that complements the work of the emergency responders.””
