Hub Network
In our communications, you’ll hear us talk about the ‘Hub Network’. Here’s where we explain just what that is.
To provide a strategic regional approach to climate change action, Scottish Government supports a network of regional community climate action hubs. The Highlands and Islands Climate Hub is one of at least 20 Hubs active across Scotland.
The hubs work to:
Build awareness of the climate emergency and actions local groups can take
Support groups to develop climate action projects embed climate solutions into local plans
Help groups take up funding opportunities
Facilitate networking
Ensure a joined-up approach to tackling climate change at a regional level
We mentioned on the ‘Our Network’ page, the knowledge and experience sharing potential between our staff and the membership group. Now consider that multiplied by 20! Our team work closely with collegues within the Hub Network and regularly ask one another for advice or share helpful hints and tips.
Each Hub operates independently and has their own share of experience and expertise. Energy, Ownership, Governance, Wealth Building - you name it, we’ll be able to find someone with knowledge to share.
If you’ve found yourself on our website and aren’t within the Highland, Orkney or Shetland Council region you can find the Hub best suited to support you here.
The strength of the Hub Network allows us to collectively support members up and down the country and in return, we gain an understanding of the real life challenges and opportunities communities experience when developing and delivering climate action projects. This understanding amplifies our collective voice. The Highlands and Islands Climate Hub gives communities a voice in the national conversation.
