Climate Action
Highlands & Islands
There is little to no argument that the Highlands and Islands are the most beautiful places on Earth. From the thriving and dynamic island archipelago of Shetland to the fertile farmlands of Orkney, the stunning peatlands of Caithness, the vast varied beauty that is Sutherland, the coastal communities of Ross-shire and the outdoor capital of the UK - Fort William. Our region is not only stunning and varied it also is leading and innovative in its resources and solutions to the current climate crises. Our communities are leaders in this innovation too.
Community-led climate action
We all have a part to play to address the current climate and ecological emergency from Government through to our own individual behaviours. The Highlands and Islands has a history of strong and supportive communities. Community organisations have a large part to play in this recent history, acting as an anchor in difficult times to support, educate and help communities to thrive. Creating better places while still retaining a sense of place and addressing community need.
