The Highland Climate Conference is coming!

We’re so pleased to let you in on something we’ve been thinking about and working on for a very long time. The Highland Climate Conference seeks to bring together people from all sectors across the Highlands who are working towards a sustainable, thriving Highland Region.

The event will take place on the 8th October 2025 within the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness and will focus on four key themes:

  • Place

  • People

  • Power

  • Partnerships.

The interactive conference will showcase how working together can ensure a just transition to net zero for all within our communities.

The steps needed to address the climate emergency and adapt to our already changing climate impacts every sector and community across Highland. The Highland Climate Conference will uncover ways to propel Highland to national net zero targets with public, private and the third sector working together to achieve local and national goals all while combatting inequalities within their communities.

Highlands and Islands Climate Hub CEO, Joan Lawrie said:

“I’m thrilled to be bringing the Highland Climate Conference to Inverness in October. I’ve had countless conversations over the years that suggests gathering public, private and the third sector together to discuss and celebrate individual and collective climate action is exactly what’s needed to progress closer to a net zero Highland. From these conversations, the idea for the Highland Climate Conference was born. The Hub works exclusively to the needs of our members and their message is clear, more collaboration and collective action is needed to combat social inequalities and contribute positively to the climate emergency.

The conference will close the Highlands and Islands Climate Festival and take part just after Scottish Climate Week. The festival is a celebration of community led climate action from Shetland to Lochaber while Scottish Climate week highlights progress and shows people and businesses throughout Scotland how to go further. This makes October the ideal time to host the conference after two inspirational local and national events. I wholeheartedly believe this conference will form determined partnerships ready to take positive climate action.”

Tickets to attend the conference are available here. Please watch this space for details of the full programme coming soon.
