Janet Bromham
Project Manager - Flow Country Partnership

Janet Bromham joined the Flow Country Partnership as their Project Manager in July, 2025. She is responsible for managing the Partnership’s two major projects, The Flow Country World Heritage Site (WHS) and the Green Finance Initiative (GFI).

It is hoped that the WHS designation will unlock significant economic, social, and environmental opportunities for the North and indeed the whole of Scotland, and Janet and the newly appointed WHS Co-ordinator have been tasked with delivering actions to make this happen.

The GFI Project aims to scale up peatland restoration across Caithness and Sutherland, and Janet and colleagues have been working with landowners and land managers on three pilot projects to restore drained and eroded on peatland on an estate, a farm and a common grazings.

Janet has a BSc in Geography and MSc in Marine Resource Management, and over 30 years’ experience working in the environment sector. She began her career as a peatland surveyor with Scottish Natural Heritage, and she has also worked for RSPB and the Cairngorms Partnership prior to the formation of the Cairngorms National Park. She spent 14 years as Highland Biodiversity Officer working with Highland Council and partners before leaving to start Lochside Associates, an environmental consultancy business with her partner Jim.

Janet has two grown-up children and lives near Nairn with Jim and her dog, Willow. She enjoys walking, cycling, water sports and generally just being outside surrounded by nature.
