Culduthel Community Woods Opening

We are delighted to announce that we are hosting our first woodland gathering - an event for everyone to celebrate the community ownership of the woods. The event is part of the Highland Climate Festival and the programme is:

  • 1330: Optional cycle trip to the woods with Karen Darke, British paralympic cyclist and Gold medallist, para-triathlete, adventurer and author. Meet at Drummond School, IV2 4NZ

  • 1400 to 1430: Opening ceremony - woodland procession and piper. Start near the main gates on Culduthel Avenue at IV2 6BX, close to Culduthel Christian Centre

  • 1430 to 1630: Woodland activities - mobile sawmill, bushcraft, wildlife safaris, slacklines, kindling chopper, free juice & cakes and ..... and Ma'cones Ice cream van!

Green HEalth Day - Hilton INverness

Happy Healthy Hilton through Nature 4 Health will be running a Green Health Day on Sunday 3rd July as part of the Highland Climate Festival 2022 in Castle Heather Park, Inverness. Nature connection for the local community, focusing on nature and all its healthy bounty. Free sessions will cover foraging, wildlife watching, arts and crafts, campfire cookery, storytelling and much more.

Sharing Economy Gala - Clachworks

Clachworks Sharing Economy Gala on 2nd July, in partnership with the neighbouring Merkinch Nature Reserve. This event will include: a tool drive for donations of unwanted tools in the community; tool repair and sharpening demonstrations, led by trained practitioners; children's events and games on the theme of the circular economy; and food from a local vendor (using locally sourced ingredients). We will also commission a series of illustrations from a local artist to provide visual explainers of the principles of degrowth and the sharing/circular economy.

3:00pm - Midsummer skies - interactive tales with our astronomer in residence, Stephen Mackintosh.
