H&I Climate Collective Launch

  • Highland & Islands Climate Hub Online (map)

Introducing Highlands & Islands Climate Collective - a space for 16-30 year olds across Highland, Orkney & Shetland passionate about climate action.

Climate Collective will spotlight ways that young people can take action, connect with community groups and organisations, and help build skills to enter sustainable careers. We’ve co-created Climate Collective with our Youth Advisory Board who input to its priorities and activities.

At Climate Collective’s launch we will be exploring why it is so important for young people to get involved in climate action and share how community groups can connect with young people.

We are thrilled that we will have Alyson MacKay and Ellie Moore joining us to share their experiences of being involved in climate action and sustainable careers.

Alyson MacKay, 2050 Climate Group

Alyson grew up as a young carer in Sutherland and is passionate about representing underserved groups worldwide. She worked in hospitality for 12 years and uses her customer service and people management skills for projects and events. She went on to get a degree in Sustainable Event Management and has worked and volunteered with many youth organisations. Alyson currently works for 2050 Climate Group and is also the Youth Coordinator for Learning for Sustainability Scotland (LfS).

Ellie is the Engagement Ranger at Nevis Landscape Partnership.

“I came into conservation in a slightly roundabout way, but now my working week involves leading groups of volunteers, teaching ranger students, and carrying out practical conservation tasks on Ben Nevis and in Glen Nevis. I'm also a member of the Cairngorms Youth Action Team where I get involved with projects that aim to improve young people's living, working, and learning in the National Park. I like hillwalking in my free time but also play video games and make films when it's too rainy to get out and about!”

We’re looking forward to welcoming young people interested in climate action and organisations who’d like to engage more young people to Climate Collective’s Launch!
