Climate Change Workshop - Invergordon

  • Invergordon Leisure Centre Invergordon, Scotland, IV18 0GH United Kingdom (map)

The Scottish Government is asking people across Scotland for their views on how we can best tackle climate change.

During June and July 2023, government representatives will be undertaking a series of workshops on climate change policy.

Why? Scotland is taking lasting action to secure a net zero and climate resilient future in a way that is fair and just for everyone. The Scottish Government has committed to delivering a just transition to net zero by 2045, with an ambitious interim target of a 75% reduction in emissions by 2030. Moving toward becoming a net zero nation will require all aspects of Scottish society to embrace significant changes in order for us to meet our ambitious targets. The places we live in will need to adapt to the changing climate and to find a sustainable path to reducing emissions.

What? Please sign up to express interest in attending the workshop in Invergordon to feed into upcoming climate change plans, particularly relating to high emitting sectors such as transport, the built environment, and agriculture and land use, and to how we adapt to climate impacts. Your thoughts and opinions will help Scottish Government shape the policies which will take Scotland to net zero by 2045.

Who? The event is open to anyone with ties to the local community in and around Invergordon. This could be local residents, community group members, local business owners, volunteers, council members or others who want to share their views on the challenges and opportunities for a just transition to net zero in Invergordon.

When? The workshop will take place on July 26th from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. You will be contacted in advance to confirm a space and be provided with more information, support and resources for you to be involved. The reason you are not guaranteed a place automatically when signing up is to avoid the workshop being over-subscribed and to ensure that a balanced mix of voices is being heard. There will be further opportunities to engage on the policies being developed.

Other practical details:
All participants will receive a £50 voucher as a gift of thanks for attending and participating in the session. Light refreshments will be provided. Participants are responsible for their travel to and from the workshop, but the workshop organisers will be available to help plan your journey.
