Climavore cic building materials from waste shells

  • Uig Village Hall Rha Bank Portree, Scotland, IV51 9YL United Kingdom (map)

Climavore CIC are holding an event to celebrate and share the research we have been doing to develop new building materials from waste shells. Since 2017 we have been working with 11 local restaurants, to collect, wash, crush and form their waste oyster, mussel and scallop shells into terrazzo tiles. Coastal environments have provided materials such as seashells, shell-lime and seaweeds for millennia, which have been used for the construction of roads, foundations, floors, walls, and roof technologies within Skye and beyond.

For more details see the Climavore CIC website.
