Introduction to Carbon Neutral Islands

  • Highland & Islands Climate Hub Dale Road Thurso, Scotland, KW14 7QA United Kingdom (map)

Join us for the second of the online events from the Highlands and Islands Climate Hub during the Highlands & Islands Climate Festival 2023.

This is a members-only introduction to the Carbon Neutral Islands (CNI) Project, led by Chrissie, our Senior Development Officer. The Carbon Neutral Islands Project is being led by six island communities in Scotland. With support from the Scottish Government, Community Energy Scotland, and many other organisations, these communities have been given access to specialist support to become Net Zero by 2040.

This session will provide the opportunity to learn:

  • The background and development of the project

  • Why islands?

  • How were the projects set up

  • Engagement planning, development, and implementation

  • Community Climate Action Plans

  • Considerations for other communities

  • Next steps

Development Officers from the Isle of Raasay CNI project will join us to discuss how they went about engaging the community, prioritisation, steering group management, and much more.

What could this informative session on genuine community inclusion and the holistic approach to community decision making inspire you to do?

This will be an interactive event with a Q&A at the end.
