Meeting First Minister John Swinney
Joan Lawrie, our CEO, was delighted to represent the Climate Hub Network at First Minister John Swinney's keynote speech on the climate and nature crises in Stirling. After the speech Joan, along with fellow Hub Managers, spoke to Mr Swinney about the importance of community-led climate action and the need for meaningful community engagement & collaborative working.

Working with the Hub Network
We were delighted to host some of our National Climate Hub colleagues in Inverness at SHIMCA to learn from each other and share expertise. We visited the inclusive space that SHIMCA offers their community, including the Crown Cupboard - a community fridge which helps to reduce food waste & offers food security.

Green Hearts in Dunnet Forest
February is the month of love and at Dunnet Forest it was all about sharing the love for the Forest! Dunnet Climate Cafe invited local schools, families and individuals to create Green Hearts out of natural materials showcasing their favourite thing about the forest and then invited the community to come and explore.

Say bye to waste with the HCWP
We were thrilled to look to the future with the Highland Community Waste Partnership at their Say Bye to Waste event in Thurso! Over the last three years, the HCWP have worked to share ideas and resources and try new things to reduce waste in the Highlands. Communities can continue to learn, inspire and progress towards sustainable consumption with their legacy videos, blogs and webinars. Find out more here.

Green Careers
Joan, CEO, and Marion, Senior Project Officer, were delighted to attend Caithness Jobs and how to get them to champion work in the community sector. They shared opportunities to volunteer and gain experience with the Hub & our members and encouraged young people to join our Youth Advisory Board. More info here.

Climate ARTivism Exhibition
As part of their Art for Action project, Highland One World are hosting a Climate ARTivism Exhibition at the Inverness Botanic Gardens. Between 11th-16th March they’ll be showcasing the creativity of over 500 young people in channeling their learning of the climate emergency into inspiring artivism projects which share the change they wish to see in the world. Sewing Hope
As part of the National Museum of Scotland's Climate Change project Sewing Hope, Strathnaver Museum have teamed up with the pupils from North West Sutherland Schools Group and North Coast Campus to create a Quilt for Climate Change. Throughout March the pupils will be creating quilt squares sharing their hopes for the future of the planet. Members of the public are invited to take part at drop-in sessions on 22nd March and 26th April at Strathnaver Museum. Find out more.

Reintroducing Native Oysters
Seawilding is championing community led habitat restoration in Wester Ross with their native oyster (Ostrea edulis) reintroduction project. They’ve recently started releasing oysters in Loch Broom with the aim of kick-starting self-sustaining populations, plus all of the incredible 'ecosystem services' that oysters perform. Up mollusks! Planet Sutherland
Planet Sutherland were delighted to kick start their Climate Cafes for the winter season, holding cafes in Ardgay, Rosehall and Lairg. The well attended meetings covered all sorts of topics from community growing, composting and food waste to emotional wellbeing, films and more. Nature Walks in Inverness
